EXCLUSIVE never before seen chapter from Michael's POV & Interview with Priscilla Glenn

I'm so excited to be part of the Back to You Blog Tour. This book was one of the BEST reads of 2012. No...it was one of the best reads of FOREVER! It's not just a must read. It's a must read right now!

This post contains a personal interview with the amazingly talented and beautiful Priscilla Glenn, but she has also written a never before seen alternate chapter from Michael's point of view exclusively for Tough Critic Book Reviews. It is so achingly good that I want to print it out and glue it inside my copy of BTU. It made me fall in love with Michael all over again. Harder. Deeper.

Don't forget to enter the fabulous giveaway and be sure to check out the other awesome tour stops.

Book Description:
When Lauren Monroe first laid eyes on Michael Delaney back in high school, she had every reason to stay away from him; within minutes of their first encounter, his volatile actions confirmed his notorious reputation. But Lauren saw something in him that caused her to question his bad-boy persona, and against her better judgment, she took a chance. She had no way of knowing that the unlikely friendship they formed would become so important to her.

Or that it would end so painfully.

Eight years later, when Lauren begins her new job at Learn and Grow Day Care, Michael is the last person she expects to see. Refusing to revisit the hurt and confusion of their past, Lauren vows to keep her distance from him. But staying away from Michael proves to be more difficult than she thought, despite her lingering grief and her instincts for self-preservation.

As Lauren and Michael recall the friendship that changed them forever and the events that tore them apart, will they finally be able to heal? Or will the ghosts of Michael’s past prove to be too much to overcome?

Author Interview: Meet Priscilla Genn

Where did you get the idea for Back to You? Did Michael come to you in a dream? Was it spelled out in your cereal? What inspired this amazing book?

HAHA - Michael didn't come to me in a dream beforehand, but he's been a frequent flyer in my dreams ever since ;) The idea of him came from two very significant relationships I had growing up - two of my best friends were guys: one in high school and one in college. So I've always wanted to write about a close friendship between a guy and a girl. But Michael is totally his own person. I didn't even really know who he was until I started writing him. All I knew was that he had it rough at home, but there was something better underneath. As the story went on, he sort of revealed himself to me, and then it was easy to write Lauren because I was feeling everything for him that she was.

How long did it take to write BTU?

It took me just about a year from start to finish. I actually wrote the first half of the novel in two months, and then a vicious case of morning sickness took me out of commission for a solid three months. Right about the time I started feeling human again, a new school year was starting and it was time to go back to work. So then I was balancing writing with teaching, being pregnant, taking care of two toddlers, grading papers, etc. I had the entire story already mapped out; it was just a matter of finding the time to actually write it.

Did you always know you were going to publish it?

I started writing THINKING I would publish it, but I didn't know if I would actually go through with it. It's a scary thing to put yourself out there (it still is!) but by the time I was about three-quarters through with writing the book, I knew I was going to put on my big girl pants and take the plunge. I just loved their story too much not to share it with other people.

Any plans for another book in the Back to You series?

Initially, I didn't plan on it. I finished Back to You and felt like Lauren and Michael were right where they were supposed to be. But the public has spoken, and there's a certain character they want to see a little more of ;) I could definitely see myself writing his story one day.

What are three of your favorite books??

Ugghh - you're killing me with this question! So hard. Come on, Mollie! Could you pick just three?! Can I cheat and go with books I've most recently read? I just finished the Significance series by Shelly Crane, and Down to You by Michelle Leighton who, by the way, is one of the sweetest chicks out there.

What's next? Can you tell me anything about your next project? What? When?...WHAT?

My next project is a contemporary romance called Emancipating Andie. It's about a girl who thinks she has her life figured out until - due to circumstances out of her control - she's forced to take a two day road trip with her boyfriend's best friend, who she happens to despise. The trip becomes a catalyst for all sorts of chaos in both their lives. I'm shooting for a March or April 2013 release.
