Review: Bared to You by Sylvia Day

"Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness... "
He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I'd never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily...
Gideon "knew. "He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other's most private wounds...and desires. The bonds of his love transformed me, even as i prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart...

Before reading this review, PLEASE no cyber bitch-slaps. I know I'm definitely the minority in this, but what this book "bared" to so many others wasn't quite "bared" to me in the same way. I'm not giving up though; I have very high hopes for the sequel.

While I was reading this book, I knew something big was coming. I could feel it coming, but it never came. I'm pretty sure this series will find it's "release" in the next book, but I was left feeling unsatisfied. I feel like Bared to You was the warm-up novel for the actual story, the literary foreplay of what's to come.

I also warn you not to enter this book with the mind set of comparing it to Fifty Shades of Grey. If you do, you will be disappointed. It does have the same erotic prowess as E.L. Jame's masterpiece and some minor similarities, but they're different. Celebrate their differences and let Bared to You be its own story. I think that's why I never quite jumped into bed with this series.

I almost gave it two-stars, but I was afraid people wouldn't read it based of the "ok" rating. I need to communicate that I truly think it's worth wading through the "issues" of  Bared to You in order to reach what I think is to come! It's a hunch, a feeling, a burning in my...nevermind. I'm telling you to take a gamble because I think this series is just about ready to blow its wad. Wait for it...

  1. I started reading this book LAST NIGHT!!! Same thing, someone on a blog said that it was MUCH, MUCH better than 50 Shades (and then proceeded to say horrible things about E L JAmes). I like it. There's so much of 50 Shades in the premise but I can feel there's something coming... I force myself to forget about Ana and Christian and concentrate on Gideon and Eva. I have to say her character seems MUCH LESS annoying than Ana. We shall see... Thanks for the review

    1. I totally agree; I think its important for the readers to separate the two. I can't wait for the plot to pick up a little; something big is definitely coming!!! Thanks for the comment!!

  2. the story is kinda messy at first and i dont know what is their problem but when Ava told Gideon about Nathan, it started to make sense and in the end you dont know what happens cause its cut so i'm frustrated to know the sequel, its not like 50 shades because they dont include a lot of BDSM.. i like book and hoping for the sequel
