Sometimes love really is unscripted

I normally don't put alot of personal stuff on my blog, but this was just too inspiring not to share. The other night on facebook I posted this link to my page. Love Unscripted by Tina Reber is one of my favorite contemporary romance novels and I wanted to share it. One of my followers posted that Love Unscripted was unavailable for the NOOK (sad day). I suggested that she download the free kindle app to her laptop because that's how I read all my ebooks. I could hear the gasps echo across cyberland. Everyone was surprised right out of their knickers that I didn't own an e-reader. There was talk about taking up a collection, having me committed to an asylum; facebook was in a WTF tizzy! The big question on everyone's mind was, "HOW?"..."WHY?"

The why is simple...I'm a nursing student putting my way through school. I already hold a degree so I can't receive any financial aid. Because nursing is a full time commitment, I also can't work more than 10-15 hours a week. No worries though, I have a roof over my head, food in my belly, and some extra put away for books of course. I actually saved enough money before I decided to go back to school in order to cover my needs, but that's how I have to live, on needs not wants. The how? Well, you do what you have to do to make it work. So I made it work ;-)

Here is where the really beautiful part comes in. Within about fifteen minutes of this conversation, I was messaged a receipt from the author of Love Unscripted, Tina Reber, saying my kindle fire would be arriving in about three days. Wait, WHAT!?!?! Here's how that conversation went (earmuffs for those under 17, sorry I was in a state of shocked excitement)...

TinaI just bought you a Kindle Fire. It will be delivered Tuesday, July 10
Me: WTF!!! I mean WHAT THE FUCK!!!! You are shitting me!!!!
Tina: No I am not
Me: Seriously Tina that is way too much!! Holy shit!!!
Tina: It's only money
Me: I'm seriously gonna cry and I don't fucking cry and I usually don't curse this much (just fake cursing with symbols), but FUCK!!! Yeah, Money you just spent on a practical stranger
HOLY SHIT!!
I am seriously going to thank you everyday for the rest of my LIFE!!!
Tina: You love reading. What better thing to do than give that love out to others.
Me: Thank you is not a big enough word!
Tina: I'm in a position where I can afford it, and I'm there because of awesome people like you pimping my novel and singing praises. What you have done for me has allowed me to do what I did for you. So Mollie, thank you!
(Wait, did this woman just give me a kindle fire then say thank you!)
You get the idea! This is one of the most beautiful gestures ANYONE has ever made, amazing & beautiful. I seriously am crying right now. Yes the kindle fire part is HUGE, but it's the act that has me speechless and has brought me to tears. Just when you think the world is full of suck, people remind you that it isn't!! Even when I tried to thank her, she thanked me

The story doesn't end here though, about thirty minutes later I received ANOTHER email from a follower telling me that they wanted to send me a kindle fire! WTF! I went from having no kindle fire, to one kindle fire, to the point I was having to turn kindle fires away! Remember, these are not family members or friends I've known my whole life. These are people I've never met; we connected because of our shared passion for books. They had the means to give me something they knew I needed and would appreciate without hesitating!! That is fucking beautiful!

Tina didn't want recognition or attention. In fact, she asked me not to (more than once). Oops! I'm sorry Tina, but I have to attent you!! This type of beauty is so rare. The best part is, ever since this happened to me I've wanted nothing more than to do something nice for someone else. I want to give someone else the same beautiful feeling that Tina gave me. She inspired me and encouraged me through her lovely selflessness to pay it forward. And because of your actions Tina, you not only touched me, but you will continue to touch others! Though the words aren't near big enough, I just want to say thank you!

THE END! Okay not quite. Some of you may have seen my trailer for Slammed by Colleen Hoover that went live earlier today. Colleen wrote an amazing story that inspired everything that you saw on youtube! Right before I started this post I received an email with an amazon giftcard attached from Colleen. She wanted to thank me for the trailer! Wait, did I miss Christmas?? It's me who should be thanking authors like Colleen and Tina for taking the time to write such amazing stories. They touch lives and give us readers something to be passionate about! Thank YOU!

  10. it is nice to see there are still awesome people out there, I know right now is tough, the economy is tough in places. i got my first nook about a year ago, i traded a handmade quilt i made with a woman for her used nook. in my house i am married with 4 kids, so pleasures are nada, and necessities are it. for christmas my mom gave me money to buy a new nook simple touch, and i passed down my original nook to my 13 yo daughter who loves to read as much as i do.
we both read every day, and my family are not big readers, just my daughter and i. (the little kids are getting there, they love books), the family does not understand so much why we read so much, but it helps me escape. escape from the stresses of being a stay at home mom (I am only 32, and with zilch for friends where I live, it's hard, to find people similar in likes and morals, and who treat you right, so for me, it's easier to keep to myself.) so i make friends with my mind in my books i read. less real life drama!

i just found your blog yesterday also from colleen because of your awesome trailer, and i am glad i did. kudos to you for putting yourself through nursing school, that is butterflying awesome :D

i look forward to following your blog.
