My Review

This is one of those books you want to force yourself to love. Force yourself because it has so many amazing components. But somehow, those components didn't quite fit together to complete the love puzzle.

The great pieces of this book were glossed in uniqueness. Ryan and Liliana have both had their past hardships, but it's Ryan who has the demons; the heartbreaking past to overcome. He's been hurt and for once the guy needs to be saved. The story revolves around his issues. It was refreshing.

Another amazing piece was Javi. Lili dealing with an autistic child broke my heart. It broke my heart and warmed it. It was written with realism and heart. Ryan's friendship with Javi had my tear ducts wetting themselves. It was a very emotional component that added depth to the story.

I guess what kept me in the "friend zone" with this book instead of a full on affair had a little to do with Lili. Call me a bitch, but I really didn't like her. I didn't hate her, but it's hard to love a story when you're indifferent about one of the main characters. Also, the puzzle didn't quite come together in a fluent way. Looking at the story a piece at a time, it was a really good book. But as a whole?? It just wasn't developed and written as well as it could have been.

It's hard for me to say whether I recommend this book or not because it had so much to love. So much I know you will love. In fact, I think a lot of people will connect and perhaps fall in love with this book. But it would be dishonest for me to say that I'm one of them. It was good though and I will definitely be keeping my eye on Marie Hall.
